I am Avihai Perry
Married to Meshi and father to Yam and Gali.
I am a painter and a clinical CBT Psychotherapist, specializing in child and youth. Over the years in my work as an emotional therapist I have met a lot of interesting people and had fascinating encounters with adults, teenagers and children who came to go through a personal process. These encounters taught me a lot about myself and the world.
I discovered the love for painting at a late stage in my life. Since childhood, I have been dealing with a rare bone diseases and for a years I was in home rehabilitation.
At that time I used to sit every day and watch the changing seasons through the balcony overlooking the national reserve in Ashkelon. I watched hundreds of sunsets and sunrises with great attention. I watched the shepherds and sheep forge new paths and roads throughout the year. I watched the ships on the horizon, the trees, the dunes, the power plant - all from the same balcony. As time passed, I felt a strong need to describe what I was seeing in front of me and words could not describe.
And so I started to paint.
Mostly, I paint what surrounds me - the landscapes of my life and the people in my life. Sometimes i paints in nature and sometimes in the studio. Influenced by the Impressionism movement.
I grew up in the settlement Eli-Sini which was located in the north of the Gaza Strip and I was evacuated from my house in 2005. I grew up among dunes, sycamore trees and the sea. These landscapes shaped my childhood and adolescence, to which I returned in recent years and they were a source of inspiration for my paintings and my development as a painter. On 7.10 we left Otef Gaza and moved to Arad, where we lived for 10 months and then moved to Ashkelon where we live today.
The painting accompanies me on this journey that I go through in my life and is reflected
